A Belated 16th Birthday Tribute to Mermaid...

Always a Diva with her Weebans and the top down.

Mermaid joining our family was such a blessing! Shortly after I found out I was pregnant with our first, my sister was killed by a drunk driver. I had a kidney stone attack and was hospitalized and had to undergo surgery while I was just 4 months pregnant with her so I didn't lose her. At the time we didn't know what we were having. I had picked out Danica for a name, but since we decided on Bree, my sister's middle name, it just didn't sound right to us, so we chose Mermaid. Grandma made sure she had the proper diva closet. The "Terrible Twos" were pretty easy(especially comparing to the twins). She started Kindergarten and was in speech therapy, probably from chronic ear infections, and I think that is where she fell in love with the idea of being a teacher. She loved her teachers, school, and was the social butterfly. She's always been right in the middle, not too much a tomboy, but not afraid of getting dirty either. She's always been close to the gospel and her testimony amazes me. She also has a very strong observation skill, she knows me better than I know myself. If she has something she needs to do, she likes to just jump in and get it done, so she can enjoy the fun stuff. She loves Jane Austen and the Twilight series. Her music(her iPod is bright pink) is important to her too, and this year she learned how to play the guitar(it's even pink). She loves pink.

Happy 16th Birthday!!!

Before we knew it she was a Big Girl!
